Where I talk about insults that warm my heart, sushi writing, and crowd sourced editing. Also I rant on Magic Mike.

Someone tried to insult me yesterday within a very long email by saying, "You are a human art piece of content creation and failure" I like it. The person who sent me that message was doing so after I was talking online about maybe doing a podcast and also maybe a vlog.

I really should make that into a t-shirt.
The same person also wrote, "You only care about creating and nothing about perfecting." Ok, yeah, I've sort of made that well known. I'd rather get my stories out into the world than waiting for things to happen that are largely out of my control and a lot of the time have nothing to do with quality.
I have never said the way I'm doing things is the right way. I've even gone out of my way to say if there is any other way you can do it that's different from me and how I'm doing it and that's ok with you go for it.
Choices are that, a choice, a different road from another road. A different view from another view. It's not necessarily the right or wrong road. And to take those roads you don't really need to think they are right or wrong.
The choices I've made with my writing and art{for lack of a better word} are mine and mine alone. Those choices are based on many factors and one of the major ones is health issues.
"You are a human piece of content creation..."
We all are. Not everyone creates art but everyone has it within them to do so and everyone doesn't have to do it at the same level or the same way.
     "...failure."
That's a matter of your opinion and I respect that opinion but I don't see failure and I'm not bullshitting here. I've had some pretty big and stupid screw ups but those weren't failures, those were stop signs, pauses. Stop signs aren't dead ends, remember that.
I believe in the method of sushi writing and crowd sourced editing. I feel when I get to a stop point on a project that's its time to put my work and my neck out there for people to consume and let me know what they think. Like this person did and I thanked them for that.
"You only care about creating and nothing about perfecting."
Perfection within any art is a bullshit concept. If I only cared about throwing things out there into the world and nothing else I have four other books, thousands of poems, and hundreds of short stories added to my catalog but I haven't reached a stopping point with those yet so the sushi is still being prepared.

The art is going home. The thing written on my hand in the pic that started this isn't really about what people think. Someone have suggested its about creators rights or about other things. It's about me once again finding the original feeling of joy that came the first time I told a story. That first feeling of love.

And if I do end up doing a podcast or vlog it will be to help me get over some issues of people seeing and hearing me that I been battling with the last couple of years. Plus I love so many podcasts and vlogs I want to try it and there is nothing wrong with people just trying and having fund doing any form of art. Matter of fact I think that's probably the purest form of anything.

RANTS AND SCREAMS:
I have many friends who are looking forward to seeing Magic Mike and nothing wrong with that. I wonder though about the story. Will it be revealed that he was sexually abused as a child and that led him to this type of life? Will there be a scene were he's almost raped by a costumer in the parking lot after hours? With the nightclub be dirty or will it be all nice and shinny? What will the patrons look like who pay to see the shows? I know this is just suppose to be a fun, enjoyable movie but why can't you have that with these types of films with female strippers. The story tropes for female characters almost always start and swim through fields of negative to even get to a hint of positive. Again, not attacking the film, just thinking out loud.

Where I talk about MVP 06 NCAA BASEBALL games 1 & 2 and also candy stealing politicians.

MVP 06 NCAA BASEBALL
OPENING SEASON SERIES VS. UTAH
I really love this college baseball game. Based off the old MVP game its one of my favorite sports games. I said games too many times didn't I blogging police? Hey, if you're going to talk about vaginas you have to say vagina and when you're going to talk about games you say games.
This game easier and not as finally tuned as games like MLB THE SHOW; which I'm going to play also and post about here but still a very enjoyable game. And all the home runs sort of fits considering this is a college baseball game.
You can create your own stadium or use major league stadiums in a college setting also. The stadium I created is based off Boston's Fenway Park with a few little changes by me. I've read that the sales of the college baseball games were way behind the college football game but I always liked them because in college baseball, like basketball you truly earn your championship unlike college football.
   GAME ONE
Texas- 7
Vs.
Utah- 3
*I came away with 9 hits to Utah's 12 but my pitching really struggled early but settled down later when I started remembering how beat to pitch to the CPU.
Stats: Winning Pitcher- M. Burnitz (relief pitcher.)
Texas Home Runs- R. Hendon, M. Kndrr, and J. Danford.
   GAME TWO
Texas- 5
Vs.
Utah- 2
*We still gave up a lot of hits, they had 10 but we upped our hit total to 13.
Stats: Winning Pitcher- G. Stefanski.
Texas Home Runs- J. Scelfo, N. Granberry, and M. Genereux. I like that in two games we had three home runs per game by six different players.

Where I talk about the Bulldawgs first game of the season and the last Sat. of Free Comic Book May

Madden 11, Franchise Season 1: Bulldawgs Vs. Cowboys:
Bulldawgs-29 Vs. Cowboys-73: Well, that was a beat down the like I haven't had in a long time playing Madden. I knew coming in with a from scratch team this would be heard but this season might be a really really long one. We were moving the ball pretty good early in the game but only coming up with field goals. I had to take Tebow out late in the second half because he was taking a beating. I was using the Dolphins Wildcard offense but it really isn't fitting what I need to do. I need to make sure Tebow becomes a passing QB. His stats in this game shows he can run but he will be on the injured list quick if this keeps up because defenses never have to play pass against him right now. It's just stack the line and unload. So with that said I have changed my offense to a New England offense to get more pure pass plays in.
Our defense isn't helping either. Ok against the pass but a ghost team against the run. One player in this game ran for 200 plus yards. I've adjusted to defend the run more so maybe we will have better luck against the Texans.

Free Comic Book May:
My local comic shop Famous Faces And Funnies have been celebrating Free Comic Book day every Saturday in May. This is something they do every year and if you spent $4 a trip on each Saturday on the final Saturday you got a free graphic novel from a list of very good first volumes of series. I picked up DMZ Vol.1; which I have wanted to read for a long time.
     People had been telling me for a while now that I needed to pick up DMZ so I'm ready it people so stop ragging on me for reading nothing but superhero comics{which isn't true to begin with}
Besides getting the first volume of DMZ for free I also picked up the first volume of the New DC 52 Stormwatch. I was buying the series monthly until I found out Paul Cornell was leaving the series but I was enjoying it so I picked up the trade.
Now to just find the time to read these. I have so many books from the library I need to finish first to get them back for others to enjoy too.

Where I talk about M11,F1 Bulldawgs Pre-Season Game 4 and the 3rd Sat. of Free Comic Book May

         Madden 11, Franchise Season 1

Pre-Season Game 4
Bulldawgs-28
VS.
Cardinals-58

 Individual Stats:
{passing}
T. Tebow/131yds/2td/1int/10comp/16att/
J. Mccown/7yds/2comp/15att/
D. Dodge/35yds/2int/3comp/8att/

R. Cooper/24yds/5att/
J. Mccown/20yds/2att/
{receiving}
M. Bundy/6rec/76yds/1td/
{defense}
Don't get me started on my defense because in two games on All-Madden Level suck is so beyond the words that are needed to describe my defensive play. I need to create turnovers with my defense plans and that's just not happening at all so far.
*So that ends the Pre-Season with the Colts winning The All-Players Cup for having the best pre-season record. They were the only team to go undefeated. The Bulldawgs finish with a pre-season record of 2-2.
*I let the players play on the field decided who will get the starting positions to begin the season so here's my starting lineup- QB: Tebow (though I will have Mccown and Dodge come in from time to time to give him a rest since he has to run so much. Though he did throw the ball ok in that last game against the Cardinals.) RB: Bundy (but he will be sharing the touches with Cooper and Westbrook) FB: Grifith. WR: Urban. TE: Olsen. LT: Hall. LG: Snider. C: Mawae. RG: Goff. RT: Jefferson. LE: Ogunleye. RE: Brock. DT: Henderson. LOLB: Cauidle. MLB: Smith. ROLB: Bulluck. CB: Christman. FS: Carson. SS: Chandler. K: Williams. P: Holt. KR: Westbrook. PR: Westbrook.

Free Comic Book May, Week Three:
On Saturday number 3 of my local comic book stores celebration of Free Comic Book May. I went into another week wanting to buy New DC 52 books but again, bitten by the HC bullshit as I like to call it so I picked up?...
Brain, stop trying to get me to rant about DC hardcovers again. I refuse to be your preforming monkey.
But fucks sake, I would have bought Green Lantern Vol.1. I can't be the only person this is keeping from picking up a lot of New 52 DC trades? And people tell me they will be coming out in SC in time but will people have the same urge to buy them then? I don't think I will. There will be more books out and maybe not DC books that catch my eye. I just don't see myself in six months or a year when Justice League Vol. 1 comes out in SC having the same desire to pick it up. They missed their chance to grabs comic books fans and new to comics random browsers.
I ended up buying Y The Last Man Vol.7 and Saga #3. Loved them both. I might drop Saga before the first story arc ends and start buying all the trades as they come out. I really like it but as I've stated before I buy monthlies as a test to see if I will want to buy the trades.
Y The Last Man as always is such a great story. That's why I use it as the series I buy whenever I go in for one thing and can't find anything else I want to pick up. Y The Last Man never lets me down.

Cool things to check out:
The ARROW or Green Arrow teaser trailer for the upcoming CW series. I really hope this show is good. I really want it to be but I also really wanted Birds Of Prey and Smallville to be really good. Though to be honest I own the complete series of Birds Of Prey and liked several things about it. It needed a little more fine tuning.
Watch John Green's fantasy soccer team play two games. I love this series because John always talks about pretty interesting things while playing. What's the Point of Being Alive?: The Miracle of Swindon Town #111 Why I Love Liverpool: The Miracle of Swindon Town #112
If you likes the learnings check out the Crash Course series.
     Some really cool body art.
Some more really cool art from Sticky Comics.

Rants and Rambles:
I would have more empathy for N.F.L. players when it comes to dealing with the league, management, if they had shown any backbone at all and showed support for unions at the Superbowl. They could have done a fist salute or the like the same as they did to start the first game of the season before the strike. And before anyone brings up how much money they made, that has nothing to do with this issue. This is just matter of don't come complaining to me when you have shown how much you really care about unions outside your own.

This is a really good story about a N.F.L. player. A write up by Bears WR Brandon Marshall that addresses how dangerous it is to everyone that males are taught from a young age to run from their emotions.

Where I talk about our pedophile government, blue screens, 50 Shades of wrongs steps, and Free Comic Book Day

I expand a little on some of my crazy straw thoughts and rants today:

Your government loves you like a man who's freshly exited a white van with painted windows. Ready to give you a nice big hug. We aren't children faced with a overpowering adult. We are the power but need to show it.

House Passes Cyber Security Bill with Expanded Gov’t Powers in Surprise Vote

I see the blue screen of death so many times I'm beginning to think I have a DOS laptop. This computer seems to have caught my asthma.

I guess 50 Shades Of Grey has been pulled from local libraries. Shit storm ready to burst. Challenging a book creates discussion. Not ordering is a decision. Pulling from shelves without challenge is weak. What I read from it didn't make think much about it but no challenge, no oversight, nor any peer review- just administrative personal opinion and it's pulled. This has opened the libraries to people challenging so many books based off this precedent.

Where I talk about Camelot 3000, Drift, Free Comic Book Day, and This Is Not A Test

The book I'm currently reading is Drift by Rachel Maddow. I'm finding it really interesting to look over the history of the military and how in a lot of ways our leaders have failed the military and failed the country as a whole. I'm not normally a nonfiction reader except for news and when I'm doing research but I love this book.

Someone earlier today asked me if I could recommend 10 books right off the top of my head without thinking. I'm going to do the list without thinking bu then ramble some comments on each one.
Just a warning about things coming off the top of my head. My head has a weird shape so these books might be so inclined. I thought this would be cool to do and also how about picking up some of these which are comics at your local comic book store during Free Comic Book Day. Most stores have sales during that event.

Y: The Last Man by Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra
*I'm still behind in buying these volumes but my love for them has never passed. One of the best stories period of the past twenty years. I usually pick up at least one volume every year at Free Comic Book Day and will probably do so again this year.
A example of a great comic store. Mine recommended this book to me a long time ago and it was just the first of many things they pointed me towards based on things they knew I had liked in the past.
Batwoman Elegy by Greg Rucka and J.H. Williams III
*You can start with the Elegy story or the new DC 52 first story of Hydrology. One of my favorite comics of the past ten years are these Batwoman stories. With art that shows you storytelling skill that can be breathtaking at times and writing that seems straightforward but hits you with sucker punches when needed I can not recommend this book more highly.
Camelot 3000 by Mike W. Barr and Brian Bolland
*Whenever someone tells me to recommend a comic they may not have heard of I point them in the direction of this book. As a fan of Arthurian Myth since I was a kid this just blew me away the first time I found the first issue at a bookstore in the mall. With its new take, great art, and nice twists it showed me there were great adventure comics outside superheros. When I think of it right now it actually reminds me Game Of Thrones for some reason? HBO get on that.
Crisis On Infinite Earths by Marv Wolfman and George Perez
*This was the first DC comics I ever read. Up to this point I had only knew of the DC characters from cartoons and TV shows. Ever since that moment I've tried to buy everything George Perez has done. Still the best well crafted crossover book ever. The writer and artist took what could have been a mess, as a lot of company wide events have been since, and they put you in the middle of a universe falling apart. Heroes fighting a losing battle and while doing all of that each rescue, each death was felt.
Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa
*I loved this series. I went in thinking it didn't have much weight to it but it does. This series dealt with brotherhood, military actions, war crimes, what a hero is, patriotism, genocide, and sacrifice.
This Is Not A Test by Courtney Summers
*Courtney Summers 4th book, this story of zombies goes beyond being about walking flesh sticks into a story about many things that we face in life and as with a lot of great horror stories it shows how horrible real life really is.
You can find my review here but I will say this also. I'm not a zombie fan. I'm always found them boring and still think they aren't the best fit for a long ongoing story but for a self-contained book you wont find a better zombie story than This Is Not A Test from a writer who has did nothing but get better with each book she has written.
Imaginary Girls by Nova Ren Suma
*One of the few books I've given 5 stars to. One another is actually This Is Not A Test. My review for this book can be found here. A story about siblings, reality, and whether reality matters at all.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season Eight by a lot of talented people
*If you are a Buffy fan from the TV series give this series a shot. I consider that series to be one of the best in Television history and I loved these books. They are on Season Nine now but as I only buy trades I'm always behind. It captures the essence of the series but moves on from it as it needed to do.
The Name Of The Star by Maureen Johnson
*My review for this book is here. Since I was a young messed up kid I've read everything I could find on the Jack The Ripper killings and when Mar told me Maureen Johnson had a book on the subject coming out I was in. In like gin..... I don't know what I meant there, read my review. This update is longer than I planned for it to be.
Secret Six by Gail Simone and many others
*I say start with Villains United and go from there. The title link takes you to a link for a read order. If you don't have Secret Six on your list of the best comics of the past 10 years you should be kicked in the balls or...... Mar just told me punched in the tits hurts also. Shit! It's does hurt. I just got punched in the tit. So that's what you get; so go read these books or SUFFER!

I provided Amazon links but check out your local comic book store first. Mine is Famous Faces And Funnies.

Where I talk about Marvel movies, getting behind but being ok with it, organizing, and Free Comic Book Day.

Mar didn't have to work over the weekend so we just spent time together reading, eating, and last night started watching Marvel movies leading up to the Avengers. That meant I had a great weekend but I didn't get a chance to do much of anything else; which I'm fine with that because the woman I love is the most important thing in my life and no matter what these types of simple weekends, you can't take them back from me, because they mean that much.

We watched Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk last night. Still love Iron Man so much but I'll say something here that I've argued with friends over and over about this point- The Incredible Hulk wasn't a terrible movie. What it was, was a movie that didn't need to be made. It felt when it came out and still feels like they made largely the same movie as the first one. The only real purpose this movie had was to fit in references that would tie into the other Marvel movie line. People say Wolverine Origins and Captain America were made to tie in, and I disagree those movies stood on their own, but I will say the only purpose whatsoever for The Incredible Hulk was a look ahead to the future and the Avengers movie.

Oh, and my favorite between the Hulk and the Incredible Hulk was the Hulk. At least Ang Lee saw that a Hulk movie needed something different in its look or it was just going to be a lazy in story boring action film. Hulk has and always will be a better fit as a TV show. Hell, if you write well crafted stories the Hulk wouldn't even have to be in every episode. Bruce Banner as a character is a very interesting one but with a big blockbuster movie people want blockbuster payout and unless you turn it into a disaster film, which I think is the only way to go with a Hulk movie, then you will fail.

I didn't even open my laptop over the weekend. I needed to get away from the computer and writing so bad that being away felt so great because when I picked up a notebook to write for a few minutes last night after Mar went to bed it was a glorious feeling. You just need to step back sometimes. But with that having been said I still need another day or two to finish off Chaos Read #5 which was due to release today. I hate missing deadlines. I'm sorry to anyone who was waiting to read it today. I'll have that ready to upload by the end of the week for sure.

On to more serious subjects, I didn't play Madden 11 Sunday so no Monday Madden 11 update on my team the Richmond Bulldawgs. I'll play their third pre-season game this coming Sunday and update on the following Monday.

Sometimes even if it makes more work for you later you need to step away from things before said weaknesses in said things that are a huge part of your life drive you off the cliff you may have been standing near. Stated with more clarity- My stupid was getting the best of me.

This week for me will mainly be filled with finishing up Chaos Read and trying to get our apartment organized. I need to get my writing area streamlined. To actually use the filing cabinet we have will be a good start. To organize my reference materials. Then after I get my stuff straight I will tackle Mar's crafting area and then the rest of the apartment. Need to get these tasks started to see what I need to do more in the future to keep us from almost drowning in our own mess.

Again no regrets on taking a weekend off from everything but I am behind now. I hope to get the chance go to Free Comic Book Day at my local comic shop Famous Faces And Funnies. They always have a great FCBD but even if I can't attend the day I'm going to head there a day or two after to pick up some trades I've been looking forward to reading. And always remember your local comic shop pays for those "free comics", they don't get them for free; so make sure when you attend the event to buy something.

I do know one thing about this week I'm going to see the Avengers because even though it might be tough for me to miss one of my favorite holidays, FCBD, I'm  not going to miss something I'm been waiting for all my life.

*throws up geek gang sign*

I wanted to write a really short blog update today. That sure didn't happen.
