Thanks for stopping by. As you know I always like it when people read things I have written whether it be on a blog or in some other form. As to your questions about The Nation. Yes, I stop by their website almost on a daily basis. I have four or five news sites I visit every day, usually they are Democracy NOW, The Nation, CNN, BBC online, and Salon online.
It was really good to hear from you and I hope you are doing well.

I say we all open a bar together? Wait, no forget that. We all are too much of the moody type and we would drink the profits away. All of us get together, sit there, watch the news, get angry and drink. Wait! Not really a bad idea. Take away the watching the news bit and lets say we all get together and drink?

Geek Speak:

I was putting a few Doctor Who audios on Wave’s iPod so I can listen to them at work tonight. Keeps me from wishing to hit certain people with chairs. Well keeps me from wishing to do it is not stating it correctly. Just distracts me from picking up the object.
My love is so nice because she lets me use her laptop and iPod a lot. Really, I am very lucky. Plus, she’s cute nakered!

Back To Reality:

I called the garage and they will be picked up my truck this morning. They called me told me nothing is wrong with it. I think I feel a big fight coming on with them about it because myself and as well as others who actually know something about vehicles think the very thing they supposedly fixed last time when itwent in to have work done is what is wrong with it now. They said the battery was just drained. I JUST GOT A NEW BATTERY DICKS!

The novella is on Chapter Four right now and around 7000words. Though I keep writing chapters and then gutting them out I’m still moving forward as I do so. So it is sort of like walking out into the ocean and the waves hitting you as you do so. They may knock you around and backwards a bit but you still keep moving forward because it is a nice day at the beach.

Not that I would really know much about the beach. I have lived in Florida for something like six years and have only been to the beach twice.

Did some healthy food shopping over the weekend. Mostly veggies. I will never be totally vegetarian because I just have a good steak, a chicken, and shrimp but I will not be eating as much because my health sucks right now.

On Friday, Defense Secretary Robert Gates warned that the United States plans to maintain a presence in the Middle East for decades to come. Gates made the comment during the swearing-in ceremony of Admiral William Fallon to become the new head of U.S. Central Command replacing General John Abizaid. Fallon is the first Naval officer to ever take the helm of Centcom.

Iraq is a dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t situation when it comes to keeping troops there or pulling out. The U.S. created this situation out of a need for revenge, not against those of 9/11 but against anyone who has in the past stood up against them. And now you read in the news everyday about Iran. Now tell me if the next generation will have a draft? Now tell me if the next generation will hate Americans? Now tell me if we will have too many more generations at all???

Not much in a news frame of mind today. Happens when work has you pissed and you are pissed also at the world and sad that the person you love is at home sick right now. I know your not on the net love because I have your computer but I Love You.

I’m not going to complain or rant or rave about work because I have a job. For now I have a check coming in to pay my bills. Others are not so lucky. I had to tell someone today they no longer have a job and I feel like shit for it.

Geek Speak:

A new trailer for the 3rd season of Doctor Who can be found here. Ever time I watch one of the new trailers I think I see The Sontarans? Am I the only one seeing this? I think I’m just being a geek boy since they are one of my favorite alien races from the old series.

Back To Reality:

Thinking about alternate realities after reading Touch‘s latest Live Journal entry. I think myself I live in several alternate realities daily. Now I do not of course mean literally in alternate realities because though I do believe such things exist and that the paths can cross at times from one to the other, one of my theories for ghosts actually but in this bit of rambling I’m doing now I was speaking of my daily ventures to keep my sanity in take…or what is left of it from melting away like a ice cube in the microwave. I do that sometime just to watch them melt and I can print they are people I hate turned into ice, ‘Melt you bastard, melt!’

I have the reality of work which is sort of like being a night watchmen at the gates of Hell, with me having to take up my duties in my little night watchmen building on the side of Hell that is just a tad bit nastier than the other side but in smaller but meaner ways than the other side which is all fire, brimstone, and assholes who think they can push anyone around, anyway they wish. I grind my teeth, put up with the smells, try not to think of it much when at home and take every opportunity to ignore its existence as I have to be a part of it.

Then we come to the reality of my writing. To me everything I am currently writing and have written exists real to me as if books on a shelf. Publishing my work has never been as important to me as the writing itself. I have done did mock interviews in my head(yes talking to myself) about stories or books or whatever to help me get my head better around what I’m trying to say with the writing. I seriously do not think if anything of mine ever finds its way into print that it will be this Earth shattering thing to me because the writing I have done, all the piles of notebooks and computer files are real. Their worlds, the lives of those characters are real to me and they live with me every day…Fuck, what am I saying. If some publisher were to buy something I wrote and planned to publish it, really…in print, I would grab Wave and scream something along the lines of some line of communication thought long dead but in that tongue I would be yelling in extreme excitement. Then compose myself and wonder if someone was playing a joke on me

Another reality I live in is the one when I’m around my love. Not to be Hallmarkey here because the greeting card industry in my view is part of the great Satan’s plan to take over the world. His bibles are the greeting cards and his army are Peeps. My love keeps me calm. Now its hard to explain but I don’t completely mean in the physical or mental sense but in the I am able to be myself around her like I have not been maybe to do around no one else in my life. I’m goofy, serious, joyful, tearful, and just me when she is around. Thus I’m that way when our friends are around also. So basically any way I act is her fault! J

I also need a reality of escape. I say storytelling is truly for this at its hearts. Not that any other genre or object of storytelling is lesser than a good episode of The Three Stooges but it really pisses me off when people attack action movies, or comedies with the slight that they are just for entertainment. No shit. It is why I watch pro-wrestling and don‘t apologize for it. Someone a long time ago said entertainers allow people to escape from their worries for a little time out of the day. That’s a great thing. Take for example my current life. I get off work late. I sleep until late in the day. Shower (from time to time.) And then go to work. After work there is a little, maybe two hour period, depending on how tired I am before I go into the bedroom to lay next to the women I love when I escape from the rest of the world. I read or watch shows like Inuysia or Futurma. That is my time to escape.

Those are my realities. Deal with them. I have to and that is how I get along with the world. We argue a lot other wise. Those things help… and being a smart ass with real New stories like below.

Rove, Gonzales Discussed Attorney Firings in Jan. ‘05
New evidence continues to emerge further implicating the White House in what has been called the politically-motivated firing of eight U.S. attorneys. On Thursday, ABC News revealed previously undisclosed emails showing presidential advisor Karl Rove and Attorney General Alberto Gonzales directly engaged in the process to force out the prosecutors as early as January of 2005. In one email, former aide Kyle Sampson says he and Gonzales spoke about replacing up to one-fifth of the ninety-three US attorneys.Sampson added they had discussed retaining “[those who] are doing a great job [and] are loyal Bushies.” In another message, Sampson wrote: “Due to the history, it would certainly send ripples through the U.S. attorney community if we told folks they got one term only... That said, if Karl thinks there would be political will to do it, then so do I.” Another email from a White House aide reveals Rove requested in-depth updates on the ongoing discussions over whether to fire the attorneys. The White House immediately backed away from its previous claim former counsel Harriet Miers initiated a plan to dismiss all 93 US attorneys. In a statement, the Justice Department said Gonzales “has no recollection” of discussing the firing of US attorneys while he was White House counsel. The disclosures have given new momentum to calls for Gonzales’s removal. Senator Chuck Schumer of New York said: “The odds are very high that he will no longer be the attorney general.”

Report: Gonzales Advised Bush on Blocking Wiretap Probe
As Gonzales continues to take heat over the attorney firings, a new controversy is emerging over his role in the administration’s handling of a Justice Department probe into the warrantless domestic spy program. Investigative journalist Murray Waas is reporting Gonzales advised President Bush on whether to shut down the inquiry shortly after he learnt his own behavior would likely be examined in the investigation. It is unclear what Gonzales advised, but President Bush took action to effectively sideline the case. Insiders say the blocked inquiry would have likely focused on Gonzales’s own role in authorizing the eavesdropping program while he served as White House counsel.

4-Year Anniversary of Rachel Corrie Killing
And finally today is also the fourth anniversary of the death of Rachel Corrie. On March 16, 2003, an Israeli military bulldozer crushed Corrie to death as she tried to stop the demolition of the home of a Palestinian doctor in the Gaza town of Rafah. Eyewitnesses said Rachel was standing directly in the path of the bulldozer holding a megaphone and wearing a fluorescent jacket. She was 23 years old.

WHEN DO I HAVE TO TAKE THE OATH?

My life is slaved right now to a working day and night that is nothing but soul stealing. Work day in and day out, hard work day in and day out, and even work I can not stand doing and have no interest in day in and day out is something I can deal with, live with. But to do a job, to do a day job and a night job and find myself in situations of playing people’s lives like chess pieces for the next shiniest coin in the best woven purse makes me want to walk away from the world I work in and find myself not among the upper levers of a company but among the true hands who make this country great and make the wheels of this country turn.
When you walk along the back stage area of a company you know what makes the gears move and why the decisions are made… I really do not think I am the sort of person who can live this sort of lifestyle and just blow it off as work, as just business. I keep after a while no matter were I end up working moving up quickly but management? It is all about money. I need more money and you do not sadly get that being in the fields of the company so to speak. But at what price or point does success become a cancer to not only a mans health but his mind and spirit? My truck is dead once again, I still need to get my teeth repaired from them getting broke months ago… I am here. I am working hard day in and day out. I am barley living at all at times. I am America.

I am sitting here at 10:2am at the day job with a mountain of work beside me that needs to get done before I go home and it will take me until tonight to get it all done. Oh, and my truck once again has broken down. Shoot it or me, take your pick, either is fine with me.

Last night I wrote a couple thousand words on the novella and discovered a piece of the story that I thought I had no way of getting to and was thinking of throwing out that chapter because the meat of it was not tasty enough for me. Now I'm smiling thinking of where that chapter will go.

Not a lot of time for web surfing today but I found this interesting.

R.I.P. John Inman

One of the television shows that I loved the most and still one of my all time favorite shows, one of the best shows ever made is Are You Being Served? Now we lost one of the greats of comedy and the highlight of that series. I have all of the series on DVD and I still watch the reruns on PBS. I can watched these episodes over and over and I still laugh out loud. That’s a special gift to give to people. Thank you John Inman.

Someone came to the door last night and handed off a bunch of papers that were found in the pockets of cloths which have been in the laundry room for two weeks. I was sick last time I did laundry and I guess I forgot and left a whole load in one of the machines. Now look whose the Sped. The guy who found the stuff got all pissy with me about being rude and leaving stuff in there. He is one of the snotty people who leave in the complex who still believe the place is actually still a upper scale place to live. It may have been once but now, Not So Much.

I am dying from not writing much the past week. Once I get into a story its almost like a drug to me and I go through withdraw from not getting a chance that often to work on it.

Mass. Urges Halt to Transfers of Detained Immigrants
And finally, the state of Massachusetts is urging the federal government to stop transferring jailed immigrant workers out of state until their children are found and cared for. Around one hundred young children were left without parents this week following a massive raid on a factory employing undocumented workers. More than three hundred people were detained, most of them women. Close to half have already been flown to a detention center in Texas where they await possible deportation. In one case, a mother was detained despite having her seven-month old infant hospitalized for dehydration. The mother was finally released last night.

Gingrich Admits Extramarital Affair During Clinton Impeachment
Former Republican House speaker Newt Gingrich has admitted to having an extramarital affair at the same time he lead efforts to impeach former President Bill Clinton over the Monica Lewinski scandal. Gringrich made the admission in an interview with the Christian group Focus on the Family. Gringrich says he is still considering seeking the Republican presidential nomination.

The suicide test
Interesting. The only way you are going to cut down on student suicides is by stopping this notion of having to active this high level of success, mostly in a material way or you are not a success. I was in college for almost 8 years. Yes, you heard right. I have two crappy pieces of paper to show for my education. Well, at least I think I do, maybe I‘m just being delusional again? Maybe but getting pieces of paper handed to me was not what college was to me. It was about opening my mind and growing up in a thinking process sort of way. To my mind my experiences in college were a success but to others I have been told I wasted my time. College should be about advancing your life but it is not life itself. Colleges should look more to helping individuals achieve individual success to what they are and were they are heading. But it is all about money as well as most things are.

Audit Faults FBI on National Security Letters
A Justice Department audit has found numerous errors and possible breaches of the law in how the FBI uses its powers to access the personal information of U.S. citizens. The FBI can obtain telephone, e-mail and financial records by issuing “national security letters” under the USA Patriot Act. Twenty-two possible breaches of internal FBI and government regulations were found out of a sampling of just three-hundred cases. Close to 20,000 national security letters were issued last year.

There is a old southern saying that goes, “I treat people how they would treat my mom.” The world still treats moms and Mother Earth like second class citizens so guess what? They are not just women’s issues. They are my issues also because I have a mom. I have a lady in my life I love. I have friends who I love. I have strangers who I love. These issues and the fight to better the world through bettering the treatment of women in the world is a fight all should stand on be you male or female.
