Talking With Mar Thursday was Warren Ellis, Silver Surfer, and love

A conversation from this morning as I was making us breakfast and Mar was getting ready for work and the cats were all "FEED US!" "STARVING HERE!"
Me: I had a dream last night...
Mar: It's too early in the morning for your dreams of space hero you, Warren Ellis as your sidekick, and a half naked Orlando Bloom in need of rescuing.
Me: That was only one time. And I had eaten a ton of sugar, ate a whole pizza, drank two liters of soda- all during a Red Dwarf marathon. No, this dream was about aliens...
     Mar: Told you.
Me: No. See there were these shape shifting aliens and they would turn into people you love to keep you from killing them. Then they'd strike while you hesitated. First one turned into Jesus. I killed it. The second one turned into you. I killed it...
     Mar: Thanks for the love.
Me: Yep, but whatever, then it turned into Garfield.
Mar: And you couldn't kill it?
Me: Nope. It gave me that stare he has like Puss And Boots but with blind eyes.
     Mar: So you died?
Me: No. I made a deal. It would spare Garfield and I would offer up your family and Salem in exchange. I became its Silver Surfer for love.
Mar: I'm going to work. And it's Puss In Boots by the way.

New Merch Wednesday is schedules, posters, and propaganda

So if you didn't catch my update yesterday I made changes to the Blogging schedule. To recap I changed up the blogging schedule based on the things people seem to like the most and want to see more of. I'll be doing more of the same as the year goes on.
I'm no longer doing While Writing on Wednesday and moved New Merch to Wednesday from Tuesday. The While Writing stuff was fun but I do some of that already on my Tumblr so as I try to find out what works for me in different places as to where and what content I put out I think that sort of thing works better on Tumblr than here on Under The Training Book.
And as always these things remold as the internet remolds and as I remold. I'm a pretty moldy guy.
The other change I made to blogging here was doing away with Sunday Questions mainly because we are usually so busy on Sunday so it cuts down on my time to sit down and answer questions or make up questions or anything of the like. Though if you do have questions for me you can ask on my Twitter or even better once again on my Tumblr where I have the questions thingee open there.
     New schedule below:
     Monday: Sunday Night Movie Night
     Wednesday: New Merch Is...
     Thursday: Talking With Mar...
     Friday: Brain Leakage From...
Saturday: I Wish I Was Brave...
     * and to add another "as always" things that override the blogging schedule are Newly purchased Doctor Who DVDs or anything Doctor Who related that I need to drool on. Nearing a writing deadline because insanity is fun to play with but not have sex with. Librarian with good ideas, as they usually do. Trips to anywhere because adventuring is glory. And anything that pays cash to my wallet. BOOO empty wallet BOOO.

Now on with Wednesday New Merch and today's new merchandise items are three posters.
Man I really sounded like someone on QVC there in that sentence didn't I?
     Is QVC even still around?
     Onward.
I had planned to post new posters for each release of the relaunch of Tin Universe Monthly but other ideas keep jumping ahead of things and I simply forgot I had planned to do it but with this entry I'll be caught up.
The first three posters represent the first two issues of the series relaunch and the alternate Valentine's Day cover to #13. When I designed all of these covers last year it was a friend who told me I should sale them as posters because of the mock propaganda theme they have. I know other people do these types of covers way better than I could be I put a lot of work into making them and it doesn't hurt to have them in my stores for sale. That's the good thing about print on demand merch stores, no stock to sit on.
I should also mentioned that the reason why the posters aren't full size movie posters is the sale price would be so high. Making small print posters keeps the cost down and if anyone wants one of these as a full size poster I can work that up and get it in the store. Just let me know.
     Which leads me to.
With anything in my Zazzle stores if you would like to see an image on something different just let me know. If Zazzle offers it I'll try and make it happen.

Sunday Night Movie Night with Greek food, perler beads, and Game Of Thrones

One of my favorite local festivals is the once a year Greek Festival. Mar found a Groupon on their site for free admission so to start our Sunday Night Movie Night Mar, myself, and Queen spent the early part of the day eating and enjoying good music with friends.
As the parking is pay and the parking lot to the small church that runs the festival isn't that large to begin with we found someplace near by to park and walked there. If you go sometime in the future they usually have a place were you can park and take a free shuttle.
The following are some photos with brief comments and some not so brief...I tend to run on a bit... or more than a bit:
We got to the festival early but after walking around the location to see what was all there before doing anything the place was soon packed with people and the lines for food were really long.
They had really good stuff in the bakery area.  Nice pieces also as part of many raffles. The prices in here and at the whole festival were really good too. I mean drinks were under $5 which is a big deal considering how much they are at most events these days. Even water is usually around the $5 range at events.
There was Baklava and Baklava and even a Baklava sundae that had us all talking about it but knowing we'd be eating enough sugar later we stayed away.
Well, except for one small piece for taking home.
They had some cool crafts but I don't' think as many as in previous years. I love the fact that one of the labels for one of the nude statues said "artistic nudes" Way to clarify it people, otherwise there would have been Sodom and Gomorrah in the tent without that label.
Mar and Queen really loved some of the jewelry but I liked the statues.
This was probably my favorite.
This really beautiful mask too.
I got the sampler of food and quickly sat down as Mar and Tina waited for their food. While sitting there I had to keep getting up because people were trying to push wheelchairs between tables. There just wasn't enough room and the people in the wheelchairs keep telling the people pushing them but they wouldn't listen and then had to back out the way them came since there wasn't enough room to turn around. It always pisses me off when you see someone in a wheelchair and the person pushing them is ignoring anything they say.
Mar and Queen got pizza, BOOORING :) But before they got back with their pizza I was saving them both seats. This guy come up with his kid and I told him I was saving the seats and he said, "Don't care, sitting down" Now there were plenty of other seats so it wasn't like there wasn't anywhere else to sit. He just stared at me after sitting down and I told him he was a "Fucking asshole" and when Mar and Queen came with the food he just stared at us and we smiled.
There was also a women yelling all over the place looking for a spot in the shade and I said this to Mar and almost made her spit take, "My names Trudy Beckman and I want a place in the shade!" Archer fans will get that.
That guy I talked about earlier was a full fledged asshole though as I just remembered because I heard him say he didn't let his kid choose what to eat and was pissed the kid didn't want to eat the lamb.
I kept thinking of this,
And again, pizza, BOOORING :)
Before we left Mar got something to take home for later and the line on the road to get into the church for parking as we passed by was backed up miles.

After the festival we worked on more perler bead projects while watching Game Of Thrones.
Queen made herself a pair of Minecraft earrings. I took a picture but as you can see from my other pictures my camera sucks and with this picture you couldn't even tell what they were :( but they looked cool :)
Though it wasn't really hot during the day I think it did take us down a bit because we all were way quieter than usual. Takes a lot to shut us up.
That or everyone hates me and they talked plenty when I was out of the room.
     Why does everyone hate me?
That's the sun rotating around me by the way.
Later we took a quick trip so we would have snacks for Walking Dead and were called stoners for our food choices as we were walking out of the store so that's as good as any way to end this post I think.

*if you want to see more of the perfler bead stuff we made check out my Tumblr.

Friday Brain Leakage from the NHS and Marshal Law to Minecraft crafts

*unedited views from the past week of the brain puke I placed into the hands of the internet. Eat up!

Leakage on the face of Facebook:
-Love how attacks on NHS type systems are"It isn't perfect." No shit, nothing is. Alternative though is knowing people are dying. Any business knows you have to keep your machines running to make money, same applies to employees and why companies need insured employees. The same also applies to citizens of a country. Facts are sick citizens cost a country more in the long run in so many ways. So you either have a lot of stupid people or a lot of people who are just hoping the "right" people die. Economic prejudices, sexism, racism kill in many ways.
-If people blasting music was a threat then I'm threatened 50 times a day. It's just an excuse to shoot someone. This guy was looking for a chance to do so and with the vagueness of Stand Your Ground Laws its giving people a excuse to kill and in their minds they find it justified; which is why these types of laws are so deadly. Sad but we are going to see more and more of this because people are going to think they can justify shooting people.
-I've been rambling on about Classic Doctor Who over on my Twitter today because I've been watching it as we got a free trial to Hulu Plus. Go join the conversation if you like. Either way I'll run my mouth talking to myself.
-Me"You're addicted to Minecraft" Mar"Trying to make me go to rehab No No No
-Hey, makes sense. Not like anyone is going shoot someone for some stupid reason like the way they dress or what they look like or the music they listen to or what sports team they cheer for...  It's dangerous enough with laws about security and staff being able to carry guns in schools but now there is a big push for parents to be able to carry guns onto campuses, you know, in case of a shoot out at the OK Lunchline.
-People please stop sending me links to Brian Williams Raps "Rapper's Delight" because I think the guy is a gutless corporate news coward that tries to be a playful on talk shows when he is part of a very racist, spineless, sexist, system of news propaganda. Plus, fuck anyone named Brian Williams!
-Even though I'm really behind on watching Supernatural I'm disappointed the spinoff is two more male characters. For a series that clearly doesn't know how to handle strong female characters without killing them off or moving them out of sight they had a chance for course correct with the spinoff and just showed they haven't learned anything new.

Leakage into surface of Twitter:
-I dont think most people are good but I do think the good ones overshadow the bad by 1000000.3
-2 out of 5 stars for Marshal Law: The Deluxe Edition
-3 of 5 stars for Owning It: Stories About Teens With Disabilities *kind of disapointed the cover was so generic.
-I think most of the brave, original, and creative writing is in YA but also some of the most generic and boring covers.
-My view is the best covers in all of publishing right are in comics.
-Me out of the blue"Top Gear Kill, Fuck, or Marry? I say fuck Hammond, marry May, and kill Clarkson." Mar"No. Just no."
-Today is a pink and silver nail because because.
-We had a wasp in the car and Mar was yelling "Tracker Jackers! Tracker Jackers!"
-Its going to be a rough week coming up so its good to have a night with friends, food, Game Of Thrones, and Walking Dead.
-Friend"There is nothing worse than self-publishers :)" Me"Mommy bloggers." Friend"I stand corrected."
-Started Burn Notice today. It's been in my Netflix queue for a while. Today I wanted to start something different as writing background.
-Any business knows you have to keep your machines running to make money, same applies to employees and why companies need insured employees.
-The same also applies to citizens of a country. Facts are sick citizens cost a country more in the long run in so many ways.
-So you either have a lot of stupid people or a lot of people who are just hoping the "right" people die.
-Economic prejudices, sexism, racism kill in many ways.
-Now that I vented a bit, back to writing and watching Burn Notice.
-When I die I want my friends to glitter bomb my ashes into the faces of politicians.
-We went to the local Maker Space tonight. Really cool seeing a 3D printer and other cool tech stuff. Also really nice people there.
-watching Bob's Burgers: Season 4. Love this show like a pain killer randomly in a mint tin.
-"Why'd you headbutt me?" "I was going to punch you but I was holding wine." Bob's Burgers
-"You pee out the window? Thats it I'm going to college" Bob's Burger
-watching Doctor Who: The Sensorites on Hulu Plus. I never had this on tape so Ive never seen it before.
-When I was a kid I only saw 4th and 5th Doctor episodes and few 3rd and 6th on my local PBS.
-It wasnt until college when I started buying tapes and thats when I finally got to see some 1st, 2nd, and 7th.
-Mar got a free 3m to Hulu Plus. Testing to see if it would be something we would use a lot. I'm -watching more of Doctor Who: The Sensorites.
-Me"They have more classic Doctor Who than Netflix. I vote I love Hulu Plus" Mar"You'd get into the blacked out window van for Doctor Who"
-The more early 1st Doctor stories I watch, the more I like Barbara and Ian. Both are such strong characters.
-I hate that I'm not as fast without a mouse as I use to be. It's become a bad crutch for me. My old Mac friends must hate me now.
-And people wonder why I call Twitter brain puke for me. Thoughts must get out or they will clog brain.
-So far I'm liking Hulu Plus because, you know, all the Doctor Who. Now watching The Rescue but it doesn't seem to stream as well as Netflix?
-And FYI I'm stream on a Roku. Just in case anyone was wondering.
-I liked The Rescue. A story you wouldnt see today in DW because there wasnt any real alien or scifi bad guy.
-Now watching The Space Museum. I'm skipping stuff I have on DVD.
-Its interesting to see after viewing and reading about a lot of early Doctor Who how creative and experimental they were from the start.
-My Doctor Who marathon on Hulu Plus continues with The Gunfighters.
-I love that Gunfighters has song ballad narration to it.
-I hate when people working on Doctor Who say they can't do historicals or non fantasy episodes. Yes, it can.
-That attitude is a very unbrave way of telling stories. If viewers can't expect something it makes the job of the writers actually easier.
-Now on Who you know its always going to be something scifi or fantasy. Doctor Who can do historicals and mysteries or romance.
-I like Hulu Plus but have to mention again. Doesn't seem to be as reliable streaming as Netflix? Now watching Doctor Who And The Silurians.
-Knowing whats to come its a bit sad seeing in Doctor Who and the Silurians how close The Doctor and Brigadier's friendship had grown.
-Ending to Doctor Who And The Silurians is one of my favorites. It shows U.N.I.T has to do things the Doctor wont.
-Mar"What are you watching?" Me"Yes Minister" Mar"One of your old lady shows" Me"Shut up" Mar"See, grumpy old lady"
-I dont understand why Doctor Who: The Mutants has always gotten such a bad rep? I liked it.
-Picked up a composition notebook and jumbo crayon box at the dollar. Watching Doctor Who: Fr In Space while working on project.
-At craft store and a mom is walking around talking to herself "I'm glade this is the last fucking year I have to do this science fair bu ...
-4 out of 5 stars for Guardians Of The Galaxy: Angela
-Now watching Planet Of The Daleks and reading Doctor Who: The Essential Guide
-2 out of 5 stars for Doctor Who: The Essential Guide
-3 out of 5 stars for Queen & Country: Operation Crystal Ball
-I don't get writers block. I get new ideas, for new projects, that get me excited, at the worst possible time. Like near a deadline.
-Anyone who thinks books written by female writers aren't criticized, reviewed, and talked about different isn't paying attention...
-or stupid. There's a level of venom used with female writers that's on levels from head shakes to disgusting.
-watching Doctor Who: Robot while Mar makes Minecraft more swords.

Leakage through the eyes of Tumblr:
-Loving children.
-A while back Mar made smores because I mentioned I had never had even a single smore and had always wanted to try them. Her being a Girl Scout she had the ways, the knowledge, the go get it done attitude. Recalling this reminds how people are always talking about wishing for a relationship with someone with the same experiences as them, someone with the same scars, someone who likes all the same things. I think that would be the worst kind of relationship. Though me and Mar have similarities, for the most part we are very different. From different backgrounds, have different tastes- though we both are a little twisted in our own ways :) For friends or lovers I say please give me someone who is very different from me and I shall enjoy every day loving learning about them, exploring what makes up the person they are, and thus enriching myself. Going all Hallmark here but maybe if the world as a whole from country to country, from neighborhood to neighborhood, looked at those differences from themselves in the same fashion some of our world problems might not be so problematic.
-Love that we have a home where things are always been created. Crafting, writing, painting, knitting, coloring. The home of a smart intelligent librarian and a delusional writer.

Thursday Talking With Mar About eating feelings and Bob's Burgers

*on Thursdays I post a conversation that has taken place between me and Mar. Usually its by text messages. It's safer for me sometimes because then a librarian doesn't have to strangle her hillybilly delusional writer boyfriend for some of the things he says.

This conversation is joined already in progress. It was because the race ran long.....that joke will probably only be understood by one person who use to watch TBS in the old N.W.A. pro-wrestling days.
Me: Dude he has to be tired of being shown to be so stupid. I know it always wears me out.
Mar: oh hush
Mar: I need to go to the dollar tree again
Me: DOLLAR TREE!!
Me: WOT WOT
Me: And today I'm watching the hell out of Doctor Who on Hulu Plus by the way. This free trial may save lives this week the way its going for me.
Mar: Doctor Who cares
Me: Sacrilege. Blasphemer, and I LOVE YOU HONEY!!!
Mar:
Me: I love you babe. Not as much as Garfield or Doctor Who but more than sugar and hamburgers.
Me: I've eaten like 8 times today. I'm growing fatter by the spoonful
Mar: and then you'll eat those delicious chidens
Me: chiden stew
Mar: yum
Mar: I'm tired from asshole neighbors.
Me: I know people. I'm so this place is such shit hole
Me: I meant- I know babe. I'm sorry this place is such a shit hole.
Me: And I'm such a dumbass
Mar: shut up, fool
Me: Remind me next time I go somewhere to buy some cheap original chips so I'll have them on hand for sandwiches. Me and my pregnant belly are craving chip sandwiches.
Mar: guh-ross
Me: Well, it being so busy just make sure you take your breaks and eat. You use to tell me that over and over when I wasn't an unperson and had a job.
Me: and a sense of self worth.
Me: I'm hungry.
Me: I think I might eat my feelings?
Mar: sh sh sh shhhh
Mar: shut your mouth
Me: What do you mean guh-ross? You put chips on your sandwiches too.
Mar: yea but I like teasing you
Mar: it pleases me
Me: I'm going to put this conversation online.
Me: Because youre mean
Mar:
Me: Don't use images in our conversations that i'm going to post online. It causes me a lot of cut and paste pains.
Mar:
Me: Asswipe.

Wednesday While Writing there was daemons, sun dried tomato hummus, and triage

If you follow me on Twitter you will know we got a trial of Hulu Plus and I've been watching much nonstop when home alone nothing but classic Doctor Who and so today is no different and I'm started today watching one of my all time favorite Doctor Who stories- The Daemons.
Maybe between Doctor Who stories I'll catch up on internet videos.
     But then again DOCTOR WHO!
As always on Wednesday I'm going to briefly talk about the things I'm watching as I go so I hit play on Doctor Who: The Daemons.
The Daemons is another one of those really good 3rd Doctor era stories that would have made a really good movie for its time without much being changed. It has that great 70's British scifi/horror feel to it.
Oh, and a little note that came into my brain last night while watching more 3rd Doctor and its the more I watch of that era, the more I think it might be one of the best if not the best of any time of Doctor Who's long history.
Some YouTube series I watched while eating a snack of sun dried tomato hummus and crackers:
- Healthcare Triage: The Healthcare System of the United States I love this series. It takes really complicated and a lot of times things full of misleading information on the internet and Healthcare Triage breaks it down a way that reveals the facts.
- AmandasChronicles: What YouTubers are HIDING Amandas Chronicles is one of my favorite online shows. Funny, creative, and always doing things that make you think.
- My Gimpy Life - Ep 6: Day Jobs The show returns for a second season. You should check it out, its a really good show.
- The Chemical Mind - Crash Course Psychology #3 I was so happy when I heard they were doing a Crash Course Psychology and loving it so far.
- sexplanations: Ask Lindsey #9: Humor, First Times, and Spitting Sexplanations is a great show that everyone should watch and also let their teenagers watch also and also also use it to talk about issues with their kids and also with your lovers and friends.
Now back to writing and more Doctor Who with The Mutants. I can't remember if I've ever seen this story? As I've said before my local PBS station only place a few 3rd Doctor stories but I've heard over and over and over and over again over the years how bad The Mutants was maybe that's why I think I've seen it. Well, anyways. I hope its good.
How many Doctor Who stories has Geoffrey Palmer been in? He improves everything so it's always good. He's one of my favorite British actors and brings so much to every role he plays.
While the dish washer was being too loud to hear the TV, as our TV only has one speaker that works, I put Pandora on shuffle:
- Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen
- Sweet Child Of Mine by Guns N Roses
- Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne
- Goodbye TO You by Scandal
- Somebody To Love by Queen
-We Belong by Pat Benatar
With writing frustrations and loud neighbors I decided I better take a walk before exploding.
When I cam back I decided I'd finish The Mutants another time and put in Absolutely Fabulous and dived back into the story. The neighbors are still being assholes so my characters are going to pay the price for their loud music.

New Merch Is a travel journal with feet

I love making travel journals. Well, I love journals period. Ask Mar, every time I'm in a dollar store I pick one or two or three I don't have already. But this is also why I enjoy creating journals for my Zazzle stores. This new one is based off someone telling me they'd like to keep a journal on trips but never have the time so I thought how about one for when you get back and recall the things you have experienced.

Pep rallies, cheerleaders, new kids in the neighborhood are just some of things our hero and her sidekick slash best friend Aisha have to deal with in the first book in Tin Universe's new middle grade series.
